Last night Ian and I had our Hospital tour at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. I thought that it would be just another trip to the hospital ( like I go a lot...NOT), where we would see a room or two and leave but for me it was so much more then that...
*First of all we went to the wrong area, parked went in and they had to redirect us.
*Then we went to park in the parking structure to walk to the entrance, but Ian found a map with the area we are supposed to park at when it is not a practice round so back in the car I waddled and we drove to the underground parking.
* Then we entered and accidentally exited which we then had to circle again enter and find a spot to house our large Chevy Tahoe...
* We then walked to the elevators and entered the hospital
THANK GOD FOR DRESS REHEARSALS...
Then the tour began with about 10 other couples! We rode the elevators, saw the family waiting room area, saw a labor and delivery room, a postpartum room, cafeteria, and gift shop (which of course looks like Santa's workshop). It was good that we did it, but boy did the emotions on the ride home hit me like a ton of bricks... Let's just say I cried like a hormonal crazy woman(which is justified) all the way home. I guess walking the hospital, seeing the rooms, smelling the smells, and seeing the hustle and bustle of nurses and Doctors was an eye opener that this is really happening in like 34 days!!!!
This whole hospital experience, extreme pain, change of life, becoming a mom, and facing the unknown that is going to become the known very very soon is scary.
After my tear fest was over(meaning this morning) I stood taller, realized I CAN DO THIS, and started this new day with a cleansing breath (thank you Lamaze). Ian reminded me that I was made to do this, woman have been doing it since the beginning, we have a supportive family to help us if we need anything. He also reminded me that this is my dream and I am about to have it come true- I am going to be a mommy, have a Daughter, and we are going to have our own family!!!!
GOD IS GOOD!!
