What is Valentines Day really all about?
I have always been a fan of this "holiday", but I have also found a lot of negative things about this day dedicated to LOVE... Don't get me wrong I am a sucker for flowers, champagne, and gifts but is that the real meaning of February 14th??????
I have grown up having movies, ads, and media dictate what I think this holiday should be about and frankly it never is what I expect it to be... This year there were gifts for my Husband, steaks and lobster tails ready to to cooked, champagne chilling, and lingerie ready to be worn, but reality had a different plan...
Instead Ian wasn't hungry so dinner got pushed back till I was a hungry hungry witch, then the lobster wasn't what this hungry hungry witched wanted. My gift from Ian didn't come, the baby was crying, I was to tired ;/ so it ended in tears and a lot of talking about how we are still figuring out this new time in our life and all the changes that come along with figuring out baby and each other (8 years later)! I know this isn't what most bloggers are posting about the day after Valentines, but I want to be real and let people know my Valentines did not include flowers, romance, and a dozen roses, but...
the other 364 days of the year include...
* A man that LOVES me and puts up with my crazy, emotional, passionate, stubborn self
*He provides me with a home, food, clothing, and much more
* He is funny, crazy and makes me laugh
*He puts family first
*We have taken amazing vacations all around the world
*He rarely complains about my crazy shopping habits
*Lets me decorate the house as I want
*Loves the Mother I am
*We have a beautiful and perfect baby
*He is an AMAZING Father
*He loves his Family
*He loves the Lord
SO WHAT IF FEBRUARY 14th wasn't perfect!!!!!
It is one single Tuesday in a year full of Tuesdays that can be great, because we want them to not because we feel forced.
Some things we both learned this year...
*Love the other person as they want to be loved
*We have to be the example we want our Daughter to be
*Giving is better then receiving: and if both give both with receive
*High expectations just bring disappointment
*True love cannot be wrapped up with a red bow
