Yes to BPA FREE!!!!!
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical used to make hard, clear plastic known as polycarbonate.
It is used in countless consumer products. It has been present in hard plastic bottles and metal-based food and beverage cans, including reusable water bottles and baby bottles since the 1960s.
Many scientific studies and toxicity reports have been reported to find Bisphenol A or BPA actually goes beyond being a food container and becomes a food contaminant as it seeps into the food or beverage it is containing.
...a cause for concern
In its 2008 report on BPA, the National Toxicology Program expressed “concern for effects on the brain, behavior, and prostate gland in fetuses, infants, and children at current human exposures to bisphenol A.”
Infants are a potentially sensitive population for BPA because
(1) their neurological and endocrine systems are developing; and
(2) their hepatic system for detoxification and elimination of such substances as BPA is immature.
In September 2010 Canada became the first to formally declare BPA a toxic substance. In the European Union and Canada BPA is banned from use in baby bottles.
In a 2010 report from the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raised further concerns regarding BPA exposure to infants, fetuses, and children.
FDA is supporting the industry’s actions to stop producing BPA-containing bottles and infant feeding cups for the U.S. market.
What you can do...
If you think about how much plastics still go into consumer products you know we still have a long way to go before we see BPA as a thing of the past.
What's most important though, is the choices you make for your baby. During these early deveopmental stages you want to give them the healthiest start possible and a healthy body to grow up in.
Since babies, infants, and young children are the most susceptible to the harmful effects of BPA it is important to choose items that are natural and BPA free.
