When thinking of  the theme for Lincolns first birthday party, I wanted it to emphasize something that we love as a family but also is something personal to him. Lincoln is definitely our little explorer. This boy LOVES to be outside playing in the dirt, eating sand at the beach, pointing at all the trees and making bird noises. He is not afraid to get dirty and if I am not careful he will find a way to escape into the backyard and play alone for as long as I will let him.

When it came to the decor I wanted to use things found in nature! My husband and I make the tent, vintage national park pennants and the wooden sling shots were found at the flea, and I collected rocks and driftwood on a day at the beach.The green canteens and bouncy ball rocks are from Oriental trading, the National Park coloring books and rock jelly beans were found on Amazon. I made the cake and my Mother made the tree cookies! 

After Cake, I convinced all 20 guests to take a nature hike in the canyon below our home...
